Juan José Donoso

Specialist in agricultural mechanization, quality, efficiency and sustainability

Juan Josรฉ has built his career around a very specific idea: making agricultural operations run more efficiently. His professional hallmark can be summed up in three words: Quality, Efficiency, and Sustainability.

Trained as an Agricultural Engineer at the Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile, he found in the use, handling, and application of pesticides a space where agronomy, mechanization, and precision naturally intersect. His specialty lies in agricultural mechanization and the adjustment of spraying equipment, an area where every adjustment can make a real difference in the results.

Juan Josรฉ likes to be where decisions become practical, working alongside producers, companies, and technical teams in the field. He observes how things are done, understands why they are done that way, and identifies areas for improvement. This could be poor regulation, a volume that doesn't suit the crop, an opportunity to incorporate Integrated Pest Management criteria, or an available tool that isn't yet being used effectively and could contribute to the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of agriculture.

This is where one of his main strengths comes in: identifying gaps and turning them into applicable solutions. For him, a well-executed application is not just an operational matter; it's a decision that impacts the producer's results, the responsible use of resources, and the trust of the entire agricultural chain. Therefore, a significant part of his work can be summarized in a simple idea: helping every drop count.

His career also combines innovation and outreach. He has participated in initiatives such as Smart Field, aimed at integrating Agro 4.0 technologies and agricultural digitalization in south-central Chile, and has collaborated with INIA on tools for calculating application volumes using aerial imagery. Furthermore, he has shared his knowledge through columns, podcasts, webinars, and technical forums such as Mundo Agro and Smart Cherrie. All of this reflects a very clear conviction: agriculture can be more efficient and sustainable when decisions are made correctly from the outset.

Outside of his professional life, Juan Josรฉ is exploring new hobbies, but one part of his story already speaks volumes about his character: he was a volunteer firefighter. That experience reveals a personality trait that also shines through in his work: commitment, attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to act decisively when situations demand sound judgment, composure, and precision.
