Jéssica Reis

Environmental Engineering

Jéssica approaches the natural world at every scale, connecting the invisible genetic code and the vast environments that surround us. Where others might see a simple crop or a body of water, she sees a pool of genetic information and chemical dynamics linked to the environmental systems we all rely on. Her standout quality is her problem-solving ability, using quantitative data to understand complex natural systems and make sustainable production a reality.

Her career is built on the combination of environmental engineering and data science. She recently completed a Master’s degree in Quantitative Environmental Sciences at the University of Zurich after a Bachelor’s in Environmental and Health Engineering. Throughout her academic journey, she moved between the lab, the office and the field, whether developing custom Python scripts for genomic research or conducting experiments with microalgae for sustainable fuel production.

Alongside her academic research, Jéssica worked as an environmental analyst in environmental regulatory processes, which gave her an understanding of how environmental science, policy and sustainability interact with real-world constraints. She enjoys working as part of an interdisciplinary team and contributes to projects that combine research, field realities and long-term sustainability goals.

When she is not deep in a project or studies, Jéssica heads straight for nature. She is at her happiest outdoors, where she can soak up the sun or explore a new landscape. She truly values the simple, quality time spent with her family and friends. As a true animal lover at heart, even a brief encounter with a dog on the street brings a smile to her face, a simple connection that adds joy to her days.
