Isabel Hernández de la Fuente

Regenerative Agriculture and Crop Protection Project Lead

Isabel Hernández de la Fuente has built her career by bringing together science, commitment, and a clear vocation for finding sustainable solutions for crop protection. Her work spans research, project management, and the practical application of knowledge, always guided by a rigorous and impact-oriented approach.

Her specialization in entomology and parasitology is driven by a conviction that gives meaning to everything she does: the pest management of the future requires solutions that are more sustainable, more precise, and better integrated into agroecosystems. This is why she focuses her interest on biological control, natural predators, and entomopathogenic fungi as tools for a more balanced and resilient agriculture.

Her academic background reflects that same determination to combine science with versatility. She holds a degree in Biology from the University of Salamanca, as well as a Master’s degree in Tropical Diseases from the same university and another in Secondary Education from the International University of La Rioja. She is currently pursuing an MBA in Industry, further shaping a profile that moves confidently across research, education, science communication, and management.

From a technical perspective, her expertise includes experimental design, insect population dynamics analysis, insecticide resistance studies, molecular techniques, and scientific communication. Yet perhaps the most distinctive feature of her way of working is her ability to organize complex ideas and turn them into something understandable and applicable, combining rigor with a clear results-oriented mindset.

Her international experience, with projects developed between Switzerland and Spain in insecticide resistance, soil health, biological control, and parasitic immunology, has been key to her development. That experience gave her autonomy, broadened her perspective, and strengthened her ability to lead teams and collaborate in multidisciplinary environments. She has also shared her knowledge as a speaker at technical events and webinars, and she has authored scientific publications in entomology, parasitology, and animal health.

Today, she is especially drawn to transformative projects where sustainability, innovation, and a long-term vision come together to rethink the relationship between agricultural production, scientific knowledge, and the care of ecosystems.

Outside of work, Isabel is an energetic and creative person. She practices climbing, hiking, rugby, and African dance, and balances physical activity with watercolor painting and crochet. She is passionate about reading, especially crime and fantasy novels, and she shares her life with her cat, Skadi. Her sensitivity toward animals is also reflected in concrete actions, such as having cared for a recovering turtle for a year before returning it to its natural environment.
